Life jackets can save lives
The following is taken from an article that John Gullick, Past Chair of
Canadian Safe Boating Council, originally wrote for the Peterborough
(Ontario) Examiner in early June, 2006. It was in response to a
headline story about the deaths of three fishermen on Rice Lake in late

CPS unveils the
Pleasure Craft Courtesy Check Program (PCCC)
Starting spring
2006, CPS-ECP is embarking on an exciting new program to
assist Ontario boaters better prepare their vessels and themselves for
the coming season.
Working with Transport Canada, our Boating Safety Specialists will
visit you at your marina or launch ramp to review many of the safety
devices either required by law or recommended for your specific boat.
You will receive a report from the Specialist that provides a summary
of what they found and any safety improvements they may suggest.
The program is free of charge and provided as a courtesy only. The
information collected is used strictly for safety statistics and not
enforcement.
Prepare your boat for a carefree season by getting a Pleasure Craft
Courtesy Check this spring. You may request a PCCC online below.
If you have additional questions regarding the
CPS-ECP Pleasure Craft Courtesy Check Program, contact: .
